About
The Sugar Mountain Ski and Snowboard Team is based at Sugar Mountain Resort in Banner Elk, North Carolina.
Our formal name is Sugar Mountain Ski and Snowboard Foundation SMSSF, also known as the Sugar Team or the Sugar Club. SMSSF is a 501C non-profit organization and a separate entity from Sugar Mountain Resort. While the team and resort are separate, the resort is actively involved and very supportive of the team activities. The team is run for the most part by volunteers.
The team is provided many benefits from Sugar Mountain Resort at no charge. Benefits include use of the resort for team activities on the weekend and during Christmas Camp, space for gate training, space and resources for competitions, special access for weekday practices between 4:30 and 5:30, discounted season passes, and discounted NASTAR fees.
